About the Project

Project Sambal (संबल), meaning support or strength in Hindi, is a core initiative of Karra Society for Rural Action (KSRA) that focuses on building sustainable livelihoods and enhancing skills among marginalized and rural communities in Jharkhand, particularly in Khunti district.

Our mission is to empower individuals, especially women and youth, through vocational training, enterprise development, and market linkage support, enabling them to lead self-reliant and dignified lives.

Objectives

  • 🌱 Promote sustainable income-generating activities based on local resources and skills

  • 🧵 Strengthen traditional livelihoods such as bamboo craft, leaf plate making, cane work, and lac cultivation

  • 💼 Build entrepreneurial capacities of rural youth and women

  • 🧕 Ensure gender equity in access to economic opportunities

  • 🔗 Facilitate market access and create value chains for rural products

  • Community Mobilization – We engage with villagers through Gram Sabhas, SHGs, and youth groups

  • Training Programs – Hands-on sessions by master trainers & skill experts

  • Mentoring & Support – Ongoing handholding through field coordinators and trainers

  • Market Linkages – Connecting rural products to buyers, exhibitions, and e-commerce platforms

  • Monitoring & Evaluation – Regular assessment of outcomes, income impact, and skill retention
