Our approach towards local governance, empowers local authorities and community members to collaborate effectively, ensuring transparency, accountability, and active participation in decision-making processes. Through targeted capacity building, we equip local government officials with the skills needed in leadership, financial management, and policy development.

We emphasize promoting transparency by advocating for open data initiatives, strengthening oversight mechanisms, and fostering civic engagement. Our participatory governance initiatives, including public consultations and community-based planning, ensure that marginalized groups such as women and youth are included in governance processes.

Additionally, KSRA supports local governments in improving service delivery, enhancing infrastructure, and strengthening crisis management capacities. Through institutional development, legal frameworks, and inter-governmental coordination, we are building the foundation for robust local institutions that drive effective and inclusive governance for all.

Decentralization of Power

We are empowering communities by decentralizing decision-making authority and resources from central governments to local bodies, while strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and other local governing bodies to plan and implement development programs. Our efforts focus on facilitating local development planning, enhancing community participation in resource allocation, and promoting sustainable and climate-resilient local policies, ensuring grassroots-driven progress and inclusive governance.

Women’s Leadership in Governance

KSRA is promoting women’s leadership in governance by encouraging their participation in Gram Sabhas and Panchayats, providing leadership training for elected women representatives, and addressing gender disparities in decision-making processes.

Access to Rights and Entitlements

Enhancing access to rights and entitlements by strengthening awareness of government schemes, assisting marginalized communities in availing benefits, and ensuring social justice through legal aid and grievance redressal.

Forest and Natural Resource Governance

Advancing forest and natural resource governance by promoting community-led conservation, strengthening the implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), PESA, IFR, and CFR, and enhancing sustainable management of non-timber forest produce.
