Samvaad Community Mobilization to promote vaccination, CAB, key health, nutrition, and WASH behaviour in 4 tribal blocks of Ranchi and Khunti and 12 slum wards of Ranchi.

The project Samvaad focusses on Community Mobilization Intervention to reduce Covid vaccine hesitancy, clarify doubts and improve Covid immunization coverage along with promotion of COVID Appropriate Behaviours in four tribal blocks of Ranchi and Khunti district and 12 slum wards of Ranchi. With the direct intervention of community mobilization, more than 120604 people got vaccinated (double dose) of urban slum and semi slum areas in Ranchi and more than 110000 people have been vaccinated in rural areas of Khunti and Ranchi district. Number of eligible people vaccinated with booster/precautionary dose is 27535.

KSRA through community mobilization on CAB reached around 366880 community people. Counselling sessions were organized with 83381 pregnant women/expectant mothers/immediate caregivers on breast feeding, complementary feeding. KSRA also facilitated to initiate linkage with Health and sanitization services to reach the community members resulting in improvement of facilities and awareness among the community Sanitization service has been improved.

Experience on Ensuring Basic Health Services:

KSRA had implemented a health project with the support of UNICEF and District health department of Ranchi and Khunti district under NRHM in order to reduce the MMR and IMR with special emphasis on birth preparedness and complication readiness in the pre- natal, intra-natal and post-natal period. The prime objective was provision of effective referral services within the appropriate time frame. The project aimed to ensure active participation of each stakeholder viz. pregnant woman, family members, and community and health workers in birth preparedness and complication readiness leading towards a safe motherhood. With similar objectives seven call centres are operational in Ranchi and Khunti District which has been linked with Mamta Wahan Scheme of NRHM.

KSRA had also taken Participatory Communication Initiative for Improving Access to Public Healthcare Services for Rural Communities in India under the National Rural Health Mission through CINI. This was a pilot project which was started in June 2010. The project activities extend to the entire Karra block covering all the 178 revenue villages. The primary objective of the project wasto create a potential demand for the government health care services as laid by the National Rural Health Mission through participatory communication. Aligning with the objectives of the project various awareness generation programs and workshops were conducted with different stakeholders through participatory approaches. Stakeholders from all levels i.e. Village, Panchayat, Block and District was addressed through different forums.
